My first posting here.   I have an application where based on specific conditions of a tag, or group of tags, I need to send trigger an event log in an Oracle database.   In this case for downtime events (if a value goes from 0 to 1 or 1 to zero) I need to grab a values from Pi and insert it into SQL
Reporting would be done by a 3rd party application.
Would ACE be the best tool for this application?  Or, are there better off the shelf solutions.   Im not adverse to using the SDK either, I have done this for other historians, however if there is a more off the shelf solution that I don't have to support, I'd rather do that.

Is there any way to simulate the function of a BACK button in PI Process Book?  This is one of the most frustrating absent features for anyone using PI here where I work.  Without the presence of a back button to return you to the page where you were previously an elaborate network of additional buttons are required to navigate forward to the page where you were before.  Any assistance is very much appreciated.
We have one Process Book and multiple .pdi pages to which we navigate to from a single home page .pdi

I need to create new point values through PISDK or PIOLEDB, but I face a problem currently. I create a new tag with default attributes, turn off the compression on it to be sure not to miss any value submitted, but when I try to submit new value via point.Data.UpdateValue() either directly INSERT INTO piarchive..picomp2  no new records are inserted but one and only value (that must be an initial one created with Point) gets updated instead. What am I to do to insert new values and not to update the same record all the time?
